When it comes to
transgender people, gender identity is the first thing that comes to my mind. Being transgender means they have a gender identity which is different from the gender they were assigned at birth. Many people don't know about the difference between the gender identity and gender orientation, so they misgendered transgender people as gay or something. People who are interested in
trans dating or attractive to transgender people are often misgendered as gay or lesbian. Transgender people don't want to be misgendered. When you meet a transgender person, you can ask them directly if you are not clear about their pronouns.
